William Craddock had served nearly 19 years’ service with the Imperial and Royal Australia Navy when he died while aboard the Barambah.
An influenza outbreak on the Barambah while sailing with troops to England killed 27 men, including 1 naval casualty (William Craddock).
His children were Daisy, Bertha, Willie, Ivy and Myrtle. Family history records indicate a son, John Stanley Barambah Craddock was born after William Craddock's death.
Stocker Petty Officer Craddock is remembered on the Plymouth Naval Memorial. The memorial commemorates those members of the Royal Navy who had no known grave, the majority of deaths having occurred at sea where no permanent memorial could be provided. The First World War panels of the memorial commemorates 7,251 sailors of the First World War and includes the names of sailors from Australia and South Africa.
